The technology

The keyless entry system
The hands-free card of Renault was a pioneering piece of technology when it was launched 20 years ago. The exterior of the card is identical but the technology has been improved to make it more user-friendly and more difficult to hack.
It isn't able to be used from outside to unlock doors or start the car until the driver has activated it. This is because radio antennae "around the car" are configured to detect whether the key is inside or outside. The key will work from a distance to start the ignition of the car, but not to unlock the doors, and that's to ensure your safety.
The wireless remote control transmissions of the system utilize the rolling-code. This decreases the risk of the security being breached by someone who intercepts and retransmits an authorization message to gain access, but it does not eliminate the risk completely. [1]
